All about Arm Sleeve Tattoos

Arm sleeve tattoos are kinds of tattoos that, just like how a shirt sleeve, cover a part of an arm. These are more intricate than your regular small tattoos and usually are more colorful and better to look at. Tattoos such as these are frequently seen among those who belong to a rock band but they are increasingly getting popular to girls as well.

There are several types of arm sleeve tattoos, categorized by the amount of skin the tattoo covers. A tattoo that wraps the whole arm is called a full sleeve tattoo while a tattoo that only covers the upper arm (from shoulder to elbow) or forearm (from elbow to wrist) is termed a half sleeve tattoo. There is also a quarter sleeve tattoo which is of course smaller than the half sleeve. Different people have varying preferences, some like to begin small with their tattoos and continue to add more to it until they get satisfied while others plan the whole arm tattoo design first before proceeding to have their skins inked. But however different these kinds of tattoos are with each other in terms of their complexity and size, what is similar between all of them is the fact that getting a sleeve tattoo will require one’s commitment to it if he wants the finished product to express what it should. As human skin can only take so much punishment at a time, a tattoo artist will need several sessions to finish inking the arm. Usually, it takes many months to finish it because sessions can only be done once a week to ensure a patient’s safety. Also, one should spend time thinking about the overall theme of the design before deciding to go with it. A rushed design is something a person would really regret if it becomes a mess in the end, especially if the tattoo takes the whole arm. One must be totally prepared for the change resulting from inking the skin since he will be wearing it for the rest of his life. But one should not worry too much, unless the person takes tattooing lightly.

The last thing to take into consideration in getting arm sleeve tattoos is the price range. Since these are tattoos that are bigger and are more complex to do than regular tattoos, they can get quite expensive. There are no exact prices, however, because pay for the service depends on how elaborate the design is, as well as if the design was customized or not. Prices can also rely on the skill of the tattoo artist – an artist that has already achieved high stature in the field of tattooing is of course eligible to get higher pay for his work than someone who is still new to the trade.
